Dear Parents/Guardians,
This year we would love the children to dress up for World Book Day. They are bringing
their £1 book voucher home today.
Children, can come to school dressed as their favourite book character on
Thursday 7th March.
This can be from a fiction or non-fiction book so this is a great opportunity to be really
creative! You don’t necessarily need to buy a ready-made costume as so many of our
favourite book characters wear everyday clothes.
Last year on World Book Day we ran a very successful ‘Book in a Box’ competition and we
would love to do this again this year. Children are invited to recreate a scene from their
favourite story, inside a box (shoe box/cereal box etc). They will be given the opportunity
to use their box to retell the story to their classmates on World Book Day.
Some examples can be found on the opposite page.
Please note, this is an optional activity. The boxes should be brought to school between
7th and the 14th of March.
Good luck, there are lots of prizes to be won!
