    Fri 17 May 2024

    20th May 2024
    Dear Parents/ Carers
Primary 4 children will make their First Holy Communion on Friday May 31st
    2024.
The ceremony will take place in St Mary’s Star of the Sea Church
    Greencastle at 11am.
Please arrive at the church no later than twenty minutes before the service
    commences.
Each family will be allocated seating. It is anticipated that numbers should be
limited to six family members per child.
Your attendance at this ceremony is expected. If you cannot attend for any
reason, please let the school know ASAP.
Normally we would hold an evening information session for parents to go
through all details unfortunately due to building works in the school we are
    unable to do this.
I have included a power-point presentation to inform you of all details
and am happy to answer any questions you may have on a one-to-one
    basis.

  • Please Support our Night at the Races fundraising event in Fortwilliam Golf Club

    Thu 16 May 2024

    May 2024.
    Dear Parents and Carers,
Over the last 3 years we have made many improvements to our school.
We have built a new sensory room and installed a modern purpose-built internal playground.
We have refurbished all classrooms and have modernised our library, nurture room and
UICT suite. We will have two operational learning support units, fully equipped and ready
for use for the 2024-5 academic year.
We are in the process of installing a new external playground and have had money
allocated to install a play area, ECO area and small football pitch.
We have also been very fortunate to secure funds for a new assembly hall which will be a
great addition to our school. We hope to have our assembly hall ready for operation by the
    end of June 2024.
The assembly hall is at the heart of school life and requires additional funding to best
meet the needs of our children.
I would therefore ask you to consider supporting our Night at the Races event
scheduled for Friday June 7th 2024. This will allow us to provide our children with the
school environment that they need and deserve.
I am grateful for your past support and generosity. We have made great improvements to
our school during the last three years but we are still on that journey. I would like to
invite the whole school community to view the improvements we have made in the Autumn
    term.
Please support us if you can.
    Gerard Barrett.
    Principal.

  • NSPCC PANTS Campaign

    May 14th 2024.
    Dear Parents and Carers,
This May we will be supporting the first ever NI wide Talk PANTS Fortnight in school.
Through discussion and activities in class we will aim to teach our pupils important safety
skills without giving explicit information or telling scary stories.
We will be teaching our pupils the NSPCC’s, Talk PANTS rules using the ‘PANTS’ acrostic,
which is like a green cross code message, designed to help children stay safe from sexual
    abuse.
    PANTS stands for:
    • Privates are private.
    • Always remember your body belongs to you.
    • No means no.
    • Talk about secrets that upset you.
    • Speak up, someone can help.
If you would like to know more about the PANTS campaign you can access a free webinar,
available anytime on demand via this link:

Further information and advice are also available online at www.nspcc.org.uk/pants
If you have any questions, please contact the school at your earliest convenience.
    Best wishes.
